Look up clients and jobs during a call | FieldCamp
Let your voice agent look up clients and jobs in FieldCamp and create new requests during a call, so your team sees each caller's details right away.
These tools need a FieldCamp account connected to FieldCamp Voice. Voice agents work without FieldCamp, but if you use FieldCamp as your field service software, connecting it lets your agents use your FieldCamp workspace during a call. They can find the caller's client record, read a job's details, and create a request your team picks up in FieldCamp.
These tools come from the FieldCamp App server on the Voice Tools page. To use a server your business runs itself, see Connect a custom MCP server.
What the FieldCamp tools do
Pairing FieldCamp with Voice adds a FieldCamp App server under Your servers, marked "Provides 3 tools":
| Tool | What it does on a call |
|---|---|
| Search | Looks for matching records in your FieldCamp workspace, such as a client by name, so the agent can tell whether the caller is an existing customer. |
| Fetch | Opens one record it found, such as a client or a job, to read its details. |
| Create request | Creates a new request in FieldCamp with the work, the address and the caller's contact details. |

The agent creates a request, not a job. Your team reviews the request in FieldCamp and converts it when it's ready. To add a job for dispatch during the call, use the AI Dispatcher tools instead; see Book and dispatch jobs during a call.
Some templates, such as Customer check-in, Quote & estimate request and Billing questions, need FieldCamp tools beyond these three. Their cards may show Review tools instead of opening. Use Review tools to see what the template needs.
Before you start
- Connect FieldCamp and Voice. An owner or admin connects FieldCamp Voice from Settings → Apps & Integrations in FieldCamp. See Connect FieldCamp and FieldCamp Voice.
- Check the server. In Voice, open Tools, find FieldCamp App under Your servers, and click Check connection. Click the arrow on the row to see its three tools.
Add the tools to a step
An agent can use only the tools selected on the step it's in, so add each tool where it's needed.
Open the step
In the builder, double-click the step that should use the tools, or select it and click the pencil icon.
Select the FieldCamp App tools
Open Additional settings, go to the Tools field, and open the MCP tab. Select the FieldCamp App tools this step needs.
Tell the agent when to use them
In the step's Prompt, say when to use each tool. For example: "Search for the caller by name. If you find one match, confirm the service address with them."
Save and test
Click Save, then test the agent before you publish.
A common setup:
- The opening or qualifying step has Search and Fetch, so the agent can recognize a returning customer.
- The step that takes the details has Create request.
Create the request as soon as the agent has the work, the address and a contact number. If the call drops later, your team still has a lead to follow up.
See Add tools to your AI voice agent for more on how tools work.
Example: returning customer
A homeowner calls a plumbing company about a slow drain.
- The agent asks for the caller's name and uses Search to look for the client in FieldCamp.
- It finds one match and uses Fetch to read the client record. It confirms the service address with the caller rather than reading it out first.
- The agent asks about the problem, one question at a time.
- It uses Create request with the problem, the confirmed address and the callback number.
- It tells the caller the office will call to confirm a time. It doesn't offer a time, because no tool gave it one.
Step prompt for the details step:
When you have the problem, the service address and a callback number,
create a request. Do not tell the caller a time or a price. Tell them
the office will call to confirm a time.If Search finds no match or several possible matches, have the agent collect the details and create the request anyway. Your team can match it to the right client in FieldCamp.
Review what the agent created
- Requests: requests the agent creates appear in FieldCamp alongside your other requests. See Requests and pipeline overview and Converting requests.
- Call results: when the call ends, Voice sends the result to the customer's thread in the FieldCamp Inbox, with the outcome, the recording and a transcript link. See How AI voice agents work with FieldCamp.
Frequently asked questions
Can the agent recognize an existing customer?
Yes. With the Search tool, the agent can look for the caller's client record in FieldCamp, and with Fetch it can read that record's details. Tell the agent in its prompt to confirm details with the caller rather than assume a match.
Can it check the status of a job?
Fetch can read a job's details from FieldCamp. The Customer check-in template needs FieldCamp tools beyond Search, Fetch and Create request, so its card may show Review tools instead of opening.
Does it create a request or a job?
The FieldCamp App tools create a request, which your team reviews and converts in FieldCamp. To create a job for dispatch during the call, use the AI Dispatcher tools.
Where do I see what the agent created?
Requests appear in FieldCamp with your other requests. The call result, recording and transcript link appear on the customer's thread in the FieldCamp Inbox.
