Job Cost Tracking & Logs | FieldCamp
Track miles, expenses, labor costs, and profitability for every job and visit in FieldCamp with the two-tier job logs system and custom log templates.
Job Logs are FieldCamp's built-in cost tracking system. They capture every dollar spent and earned across your field operations — travel, labor, materials, and revenue — so you can see profitability at both the job level and the individual visit level.
Check Costs with the Command Centre
Ask the Command Centre for instant cost insights:
- "What's the profit on the Smith Residence insulation job?"
- "Show me total labor costs for this week's completed jobs"
- "Which jobs have the highest expenses this month?"
See AI Skills for more examples.
Two-Tier Log Architecture
FieldCamp tracks finances at two levels:
| Level | What It Shows | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Job-level logs | Aggregate data across the entire job | Overall project profitability |
| Visit-level logs | Data for each individual service call | Per-visit cost analysis, recurring job trends |
Visit-level numbers roll up into the job-level totals automatically.
Log Components
| Log Field | Description | Default Tracking |
|---|---|---|
| Miles | Distance traveled to and from the job site | Calculated from route or entered manually |
| Miles Cost | Travel expense using IRS standard or custom rate | Auto-calculated from miles |
| Expenses | Materials, supplies, equipment rental, other costs | Entered per visit |
| Labor Cost | Technician work cost (hourly rate x time) | Calculated from personal hours |
| Personal Hours | Time each technician logged on the visit | Entered by field team or tracked automatically |
| Job Income | Total billable amount from line items | Pulled from job pricing |
| Job Cost | Sum of miles cost + expenses + labor cost | Auto-calculated |
| Job Profit | Job income minus job cost | Auto-calculated |
