Check your AI credits balance, buy top-up packs, track usage, and understand per-action deductions across FieldCamp's AI features.

FieldCamp's AI features run on a credit-based model. Every AI action — a chat message, an AI dispatch suggestion, a generated summary, or a workflow run — draws from your AI credits balance. This guide explains how to check your balance, purchase additional credits, review usage history, and keep your team's AI features running without interruption.
What Are AI Credits?
AI credits are the unit of measurement for FieldCamp's AI usage. Instead of metering every model call separately, credits give you a single, easy-to-read balance that covers all AI features across the platform — including the Command Centre AI Chat, AI Dispatcher, AI Summaries, AI call transcription, and AI workflow execution.
Every paid plan includes a monthly AI credit allocation. When you need more, you can purchase top-up packs at any time. See Plan & Billing — Pricing & Subscriptions for the credit allocation included with each plan.
Tip: Monthly credits reset at the start of every billing cycle. Top-up credits you purchase separately do not expire and roll over month-to-month.
How to Check Your AI Credits Balance
Your AI credits balance is always visible in the workspace so you never get caught short mid-job.
Open Settings
Click your workspace name in the top-left and go to Settings. If you're new to FieldCamp's setup screens, see Settings Overview.
Navigate to Plan & Billing
Under the billing section, open Plan & Billing. The current AI credits balance is displayed at the top of the AI Credits card.
Review the breakdown
You will see your included monthly credits (resets each billing cycle) and your top-up credits (purchased separately, never expires) listed side-by-side.
The balance also appears in the Command Centre so dispatchers and admins can see at a glance how many credits remain before running a heavy operation.
Per-Action Credit Cost
Different AI features consume different amounts of credits, based on how compute-intensive each action is. The table below shows typical costs — exact deductions are confirmed in the Universal Search and the receipt shown after each AI action.

Save credits: For repetitive AI tasks, consider saving the output as a workflow template. Once saved, you can re-use the result without spending fresh credits each time.
How to Purchase AI Credit Top-Ups
You can buy additional credits at any time, even mid-cycle. Purchases are processed through Stripe — the same secure billing provider FieldCamp uses for online payments.
Open Plan & Billing
Go to Settings → Plan & Billing, then scroll to the AI Credits section.
Click Buy Credits
Select Buy Credits to open the top-up modal showing available credit packs.
Choose a pack
Pick the pack size that best fits your usage. Larger packs offer a lower per-credit rate.
Confirm with Stripe
You'll be redirected to a Stripe checkout page. Enter your payment details and confirm. Credits are added to your balance as soon as the payment succeeds.
Verify the balance
Return to the AI Credits card to confirm the new balance reflects your purchase. You'll also receive an email receipt from Stripe.
Important: Only the account owner can purchase credits. Team members — even Admins — do not have access to the billing page. See Roles & Permissions for details on what each role can access.
Tracking AI Credit Usage History
FieldCamp keeps a detailed log of every credit transaction so you can audit usage by feature, by team member, and by date.

Go to Settings → Plan & Billing → AI Credits.

Click View Usage History.

Filter the log by date range, feature (Chat, Dispatcher, Summary, etc.), or user.

Export the log to CSV for finance or accounting if you need a paper trail — similar to how you'd export client data.
Each row in the log shows the timestamp, the user who triggered the action, the feature used, and the credits deducted.
When Credits Run Low
FieldCamp proactively warns you before your balance hits zero so dispatch and chat operations don't get blocked unexpectedly.
- 80% used: An in-app banner appears in the Command Centre and Plan & Billing.
- 100% used: AI features pause. Non-AI workflows (manual scheduling, invoicing, calendar) keep working normally.
- Top up to resume: Buy a top-up pack and AI features resume immediately — no need to wait for the next billing cycle.
Heads up: AI Dispatcher and AI Chat will pause if both your monthly and top-up balances reach zero. Your scheduled jobs, invoices, and client data are never affected — only AI-powered actions stop until you top up.
Auto Top-Up (Optional)
To avoid running out of credits during peak season, you can enable Auto Top-Up:

In Plan & Billing → AI Credits, toggle on Auto Top-Up.

Set a threshold (for example, top up when balance drops below 500 credits).

Choose the pack size to purchase automatically.
When the threshold is crossed, FieldCamp charges your saved Stripe card and adds the credits without interruption. This works similarly to auto-pay for recurring invoices.
Webhook Verification for Credit Purchases
For developers integrating credit purchase events into external systems, FieldCamp signs every Stripe credit purchase webhook with a secret you can verify against. Troubleshooting
My credits didn't update after a Stripe purchase
Stripe webhooks are usually instant, but a small delay can happen during peak hours. Refresh the Plan & Billing page after 30 seconds. If the balance still hasn't updated, check the Stripe receipt email — if the charge succeeded but credits are missing, contact support so the webhook can be re-run manually. Why was I charged more credits than I expected?
Some AI actions (like call transcription or multi-step dispatch suggestions) consume more credits because they make multiple model calls. Open the Usage History log to see the exact credits deducted for each action.
Can my team see my credits balance?
Only the account owner can view the full balance and purchase credits. Other team members see a generic "AI available" indicator in the Command Centre but cannot see the dollar amount or buy more.
Do top-up credits expire?
No. Top-up credits roll over indefinitely and are spent only after your monthly allocation is exhausted. Monthly credits reset each billing cycle.
How do I get a refund for unused credits?
Top-up credits are non-refundable but never expire. If you cancel your subscription, your top-up credit balance remains and can be used if you reactivate later.
