AI Agents Overview | FieldCamp
FieldCamp AI Agents are specialized assistants that handle business tasks like follow-up calls, email responses, and appointment scheduling around the clock.
AI Agents are specialized assistants you create inside FieldCamp to handle specific business tasks automatically. Think of them as dedicated team members that work around the clock — answering calls after hours, sending payment reminders, or scheduling appointments without you lifting a finger.
Ask the AI assistant: "Create an agent that calls clients 3 days after job completion to check if they're satisfied" and FieldCamp builds it for you.
What Agents Do
Each agent is designed for a single, focused task. You tell it what to do, connect it to the tools it needs, and let it run. Some examples:
- A Follow-Up Agent calls clients after every completed job to check satisfaction
- An Invoice Reminder Agent sends payment reminders for overdue invoices
- A Booking Agent handles appointment requests over the phone and by text
- A Report Agent generates weekly summaries of completed jobs and revenue
Unlike a general-purpose chatbot, each agent has its own instructions, its own connected tools, and its own on/off switch.
The Agent Marketplace
You do not have to build every agent from scratch. The Agent Marketplace offers pre-built agent templates organized by category:
| Category | What These Agents Do | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Communication | Handle calls, texts, and emails | After-hours call answering, email auto-replies |
| Scheduling | Manage appointments and availability | Appointment booking, reschedule requests |
| Financial | Track payments and invoicing | Invoice follow-ups, payment confirmations |
| Reporting | Generate summaries and insights | Weekly job reports, revenue summaries |
| Operations | Keep daily work running smoothly | Job status updates, team notifications |
| Research | Find information and answer questions | Client lookup, service area checks |
Browse the marketplace from the Agents page in your sidebar. Pick a template, customize it to fit your business, and activate it.
Agent Statuses
Every agent has one of three statuses:
| Status | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Active | The agent is running and handling tasks right now |
| Paused | The agent is configured but temporarily stopped |
| Draft | The agent is still being set up and has not been activated yet |
You can change an agent's status at any time. Pausing an agent keeps all its settings intact — just toggle it back to Active when you are ready.

How Agents Differ from the Command Centre
The Command Centre is your general-purpose AI chat. You open it, type a question or request, and get an answer. It is reactive — it responds when you talk to it.
Agents are different. They run on their own, handling tasks in the background without you asking. You set them up once and they keep working.
| Command Centre | AI Agents | |
|---|---|---|
| How it works | You ask, it answers | It runs automatically |
| Scope | Anything in your workspace | One specific task |
| When it runs | When you open chat | Whenever its trigger fires |
| Best for | Quick questions, one-off tasks | Repetitive, ongoing work |
How Agents Differ from AI Dispatcher
AI Dispatcher has one job: assign the right technician to the right job based on skills, location, and availability. It is a specialized scheduling engine built into the calendar.
Agents are broader. They can handle any business task you define — from making phone calls to sending emails to generating reports. You could even create an agent that works alongside the Dispatcher by calling clients to confirm the appointment after a job is assigned.
AI-First Agent Creation
You can create agents directly from the Command Centre. Just describe what you want:
- "Create an agent that sends a thank-you text after every completed visit"
- "I need an agent that answers the phone after hours and takes messages"
- "Set up an agent to remind clients about upcoming appointments"
The AI builds the agent, suggests the right connections, and lets you review everything before you activate it.
Start with one agent that handles your biggest time drain — like following up on unpaid invoices or answering after-hours calls. Once you see the time saved, add more.
