Adding a new client to FieldCamp is simple. You can create a client from scratch in the CRM or from a job request.
Creating a Client From the CRM
The most direct way to add a client is from the Clients page:
Click Clients in the left sidebar
Click the + New Client button at the top-right
Fill in their information
Click Create to save
Required vs. Optional Information
When creating a client, you need at least the basics:
Field | Required? | Description |
First Name | Yes | Client's first name |
Last Name | Yes | Client's last name |
No | Contact email address. Needed to send estimates, invoices, or communications. | |
Phone | No | Phone number |
Address | No | Street, city, state, zip |
Company Name | No (required for Business type) | Business or company name |
Website | No | Company or personal website |
Tax Number | No | For businesses, their tax ID |
Client Category | No | Choose Leads, Pipeline, or Clients |
Stage | No | Choose from default stages or custom ones you've created |
Adding Custom Information
If your business uses custom fields (like preferred service area, referral source, or industry type), you can fill those in too. To add custom fields go to Settings → Pipeline Configuration, under client pipeline you can add new fields. Custom fields are set up by your account admin.
Creating a Client From a Job Request
When someone submits a job request through your booking form, FieldCamp can automatically create a client for them:
Go to Requests in the sidebar
Open the pending request
Click Create Client (if they don't already exist in your system)
Review the pre-filled information (name, email, phone, address)
Add any missing details or custom fields
Click Create
Setting Their Category and Stage
When you create a client, you can assign them to a category (Leads, Pipeline, or Clients) and choose a stage (e.g., New Lead, Contacted, Active Client, Past Client). Categories are broad groupings for where a contact sits in your sales process; stages are more specific milestones within each category. You can always change both later as your relationship with the client progresses. See Client Stages Explained for the full list of stages and what they mean.
Tip: Need to add many clients at once? Use the CSV/Excel import instead of creating them one by one. See Importing Clients (CSV / Excel) for the full walkthrough.
