FieldCamp Call and Messaging Setup Guide
Overview
This guide shows you how to connect your FieldCamp account to Twilio, purchase phone numbers, and enable calling and messaging features. Once complete, you can make calls and send text messages directly inside FieldCamp, with all communications automatically linked to your client records.

Connect your Twilio account to FieldCamp
Purchase and configure phone numbers
Make calls directly from FieldCamp
Send and receive text messages
Access call recordings and message history
Configure voicemail and call forwarding
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have:
Admin access in FieldCamp (only admins can set up phone services)
Twilio account (sign up at twilio.com if you don't have one)
Supported browser (latest Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)
Headset or microphone (allow mic access when your browser prompts)
Stable internet connection
Step 1: Enable the Calls Addon
Log in to FieldCamp
Click Settings in the left sidebar
Click Addons in the menu
Find the Calls addon and click Install
Success Check: You see "Calls connected successfully" and are redirected to the Calls Management page.
Step 2: Connect Your Twilio Account
If you're new to Twilio
Sign up at twilio.com and verify your account before proceeding.
Connect Twilio to FieldCamp
In the FieldCamp Calls Management page, click Setup Twilio Account
Log into twilio.com
Twilio will redirect you to Console
Scroll Down the Page, and you will see Account SID and Auth Token
Copy your Account SID
Click the eye icon next to Auth Token to reveal it
Copy the Auth Token
Return to FieldCamp
Paste both credentials into the respective fields
Click Validate Credentials
Success Check: You see your Twilio account details displayed in FieldCamp with "Connected" status.
Step 3: Purchase and Add Phone Numbers
Add Your First Number
In FieldCamp, click Add Phone Number
Click Buy New Number
Select your country
Choose preferences:
Area code (optional)
Capabilities: Voice, SMS, or both
Select a number from the available list
Click Purchase
Success Check: The purchased number appears in your FieldCamp phone numbers list immediately.
Add Multiple Numbers
Repeat the process above to add more numbers for different departments, locations, or staff members.
Step 4: Configure Number Settings
Configure each phone number according to your needs:
Set as Primary
Select your main number for outbound calls
Recording
Enable call recording if needed
Note: Callers will hear a recording notice when enabled
Voicemail Greeting
Upload or record a custom voicemail greeting
Call Forwarding/Business Hours
Set routing for after-hours calls
Configure custom business hours if needed
Success Check: Your number settings display "Saved" confirmation after each change.
Step 5: Start Calling and Messaging
Making Calls
Click Inbox in the left sidebar
Click the Calls tab
Click the Call button
Select your Caller ID from the dropdown
Enter the phone number to call
Click Start Call
Use Mute/Unmute and End Call controls as needed
Success Check: You hear ringing and can speak when the call connects.
Note: If recording is enabled, all calls are saved and visible in the call history.
Sending Messages
Click Inbox in the left sidebar
Click the Messages tab
Click New Message
Select your sending number from the dropdown
Enter the recipient phone number
Type your message text
Click Send
Success Check: Your message appears in the conversation thread with "Sent" status.
Note: Ongoing text message threads are grouped by contact for easy tracking.
Viewing History
Call History:
Go to Inbox → Calls tab
All calls and voicemails appear in chronological order
Click any call to view recordings and details
Message History:
Go to Inbox → Messages tab
All text message conversations appear grouped by contact
Click any conversation to view complete message history
Success Check: You can see all past communications with timestamps and details.
Troubleshooting – Common Problems & Solutions
Issue | Solution |
No phone numbers available | Ensure at least one Twilio number is active and has the needed capabilities (Voice/SMS) |
Microphone blocked | Click Enable Microphone when prompted → Check browser permissions in settings → Refresh the page |
Twilio validation fails | Double-check Account SID and Auth Token → Remove any extra spaces → Verify credentials in Twilio Console → Check Twilio service status |
SMS not sending | Confirm the number has SMS capability in Twilio → US numbers require A2P 10DLC registration (see below) |
Audio/call quality issues | Use a reliable internet connection → Use a headset instead of computer speakers → Close unused browser tabs and applications |

Twilio charges monthly fees for phone numbers
Per-minute charges for calls
Per-message charges for text messages
Monitor your usage in the Twilio Console to track costs
SMS Compliance (US)
Business text messaging requires A2P 10DLC registration for US local numbers
Set this up in your Twilio account for full message deliverability

Recording Consent
If call recording is enabled, inform callers as required by law in your jurisdiction
FieldCamp plays an automatic recording notice when enabled
