What Is the Command Center?

The Command Center is FieldCamp's AI-powered hub where you can manage your entire business using plain language. Instead of navigating through menus and forms, type what you need — like "Create a new client" or "Show me today's jobs" — and the AI handles it for you.

The Command Center can create clients, schedule jobs, send invoices, show dashboards, answer questions about your data, and much more — all from a single chat interface.

How to Access the Command Center

Click the chat icon at the top of the sidebar to open the Command Center. You can also navigate directly to /chat in your browser.

Who can access it: The Command Center is available to users with the Admin role or the Account Owner. Dispatchers, Field Technician Pro, and Field Technician Lite roles do not have access. See Roles & Permissions for details.

Quick Commands

When you open the Command Center, you'll see quick-action chips at the top. Click any of them to get started instantly:

  • /today — Get a summary of today's scheduled jobs, tasks, and activity

  • /dashboard — View your business dashboard with key metrics and KPIs

  • /newjob — Create a new job

  • /dispatch — Dispatch or assign a job to a team member

You can also type / in the chat input to see all available slash commands, including any custom AI skills you've created.

What You Can Do

The Command Center understands natural language. Here are some examples of what you can ask:

Manage Your Business

  • "Create a new client"

  • "Schedule upcoming jobs"

  • "Add my price book" — add products and services

  • "Send an invoice"

  • "Check overdue tasks"

  • "View team availability"

Get Insights & Reports

  • "Show me this week's revenue"

  • "How many jobs did we complete last month?"

  • "Which technician has the most jobs today?"

The AI displays answers using rich visual components — tables, charts, stat cards, timelines, calendars, and more — so your data is easy to read at a glance.

Schedule Automated Tasks

  • "Send me a daily summary every morning at 9am"

  • "Remind me to follow up with John next Monday"

The Command Center can schedule recurring or one-time tasks that run automatically.

Memory

The AI can remember preferences and business rules you share with it. For example, tell it "Remember that we don't take jobs on public holidays" and it will apply that context in future conversations.

File Attachments

You can attach files to your messages for the AI to analyze:

  • Images (PNG, JPEG, WebP) — the AI can view and describe images

  • CSV files — upload spreadsheets for the AI to analyze and visualize

  • PDF files — the AI extracts and reads PDF content

Custom AI Skills

You can create your own custom AI skills that appear as slash commands in the Command Center. For example, you could create a /weekly-report skill that generates a formatted weekly summary specific to your business.

To create a custom skill, describe what you want to the AI (e.g., "Create a skill that generates a weekly job completion report") and it will build it for you. Custom skills appear with a purple badge in the slash commands menu, while built-in commands show a green badge.

Chat History

The Command Center saves your conversation history. Click the history icon in the top-left corner to browse previous sessions. Each session is preserved separately, so you can pick up where you left off or review past conversations.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of It

  • Be specific — "Show me unpaid invoices from this month" works better than "Show invoices"

  • Use slash commands for common actions — they're faster than typing full sentences

  • Teach it your preferences — say "Remember that..." to store business rules the AI will apply going forward

  • Attach files when you need data analyzed — CSVs and PDFs work great

  • Create custom skills for tasks you repeat often
